Lately In Haiti...

Every Thursday we make sure to visit Tree of Life to assess the children on Medika Mamba. The week before last we weighed and measured the children in the program which resulted in disappointment. None of the children had gained weight and actually ended up losing weight. I had to give one of the directors, Martine, a warning in that the program will have to be pulled if the children do not end up gaining weight at the next weigh in. We have learned over the weeks that Martine really does care about the children and is a hard worker. We trust that she had been feeding the children the correct dose each day but we wondered if the water had something to do with their weight loss.

This week when we arrived to weigh the children Martine admitted she was scared to hear the results. The children ended up gaining weight and 1 child, Natalie, ended up graduating out of the program. I felt relieved because I did not want to pull the program. The two remaining children are only a few kilograms off from graduating. I have hope they can reach their goal within one week if the water stays clean, they remain healthy, and are eating the correct prescribed mamba of course.

Natalie graduated this week!

We have a team from Minnesota working with Tree of Life this week. So far they have painted a few rooms and are currently in the process of building a swing set. This team has also stayed busy building benches, painting at Williamson, and distributed TOMS Shoes in Nazon. Check out a few photos below.

Some things we do in our free time:

Happy Birthday America!

Alex purchased a few fireworks but we were shut down quickly by the gate guard after shooting up a few.
